The current Toyota Racing Series champion Thomas Randle is excited to get the season underway at Donington this weekend for round one of the 2017 British LMP3 Cup Championship.
The BRDC Rising Star who resides in Norfolk, UK, is looking forward to his first season as a professional driver in Endurance Racing.
“I am thrilled to get the season underway finally,” says Randle.
“The Ligier JSP3 is an incredible car to drive; we are lapping almost identical lap times to that of my BRDC British F3 car from last year.
The power is exceptional and the grip is phenomenal. This year I have fully focused all of my time on endurance racing and sports cars, and therefore putting my single seater aspirations on hold at the minute. My ultimate goal is to become a Le Mans 24 hour winner with the aim of being a factory LMP1 driver, and if I can show my true speed and potential behind the wheel of the LMP3, I think it will be a step in the right direction for achieving that.
I first have to thank Mike Newbould for bringing me onboard the LMP3 project and I hope to do the team, him, along with myself proud this year. I’ll be giving it 100 percent every lap so I hope it pays off.”
Randle who hails from the Douglas Motorsport stable based in Corby will be on track this weekend starting with testing Saturday morning, followed with one qualifying and one race. Sundays schedule will also include one qualifying and one race.
