RANDLE JOINS AV FORMULA FOR REMAINDER OF 2017 EUROCUP FORMULA RENAULT 2.0

Australian international open wheel star and reigning Toyota Racing Series champion, Thomas Randle will contest the remaining six rounds of the 2017 Eurocup Formula Renault 2.0 Championship with leading open wheel exponents AV Formula. Randle received a late call-up to drive for the Adrian Valles owned team and will commence his race program this coming weekend at the Hungaroring circuit near Budapest, having completed little more than an ergonomic fitting session and simulator work with the team last week, who won last year's Formula Renault 3.5 V8 championship with former German F3 champion, Frenchman Tom Dillman. Valles himself, is a former open wheel racer with a well-credentialed racing resume that includes winning the 2009 Superleague Formula Championship plus multiple years spent competing in GP2 competition in both Europe and Asia, while he was also the official test driver for the Midland Formula 1 team (formerly Jordan Grand Prix) in 2006-7 ... Valles is excited about having the 21year-old Aussie joining his team. "Here at AV Formula we are really happy to welcome Thomas to the team and from initial simulator testing his results showed he was immediately on the Eurocup pace, while his previous results and winning the most recent TRS title supported those findings. "The Eurocup Formula Renault 2.0 Championship is a very competitive series, with the other drivers already having an advantage over Thomas from the races they've contested so far this year and also the four completed test days. "We are confident though that we can get Thomas up to speed quite quickly and look forward to providing the maximum support we can to give him with what he needs to be fighting it out at the front of the field. We also feel confident he can finish the year strongly, which will help Thomas with his 2018 plans and we're all really looking forward to working with him." Randle too, relishes the challenge of competing against some of the best young drivers in the world, and his inclusion into the championship increases the number of Australians in the field to five, an unprecedented number. "I am thoroughly excited to be racing in the remaining six rounds of the Eurocup Formula Renault 2.0 Championship with AV Formula. "After my title-winning success in the Toyota Racing Series at the beginning of the year, it's great to be getting back behind the wheel of an open wheeler again, and in such a competitive championship. "I am truly thankful of AV Formula for the opportunity and also Rusty French for helping make this possible. AV Formula have a competitive car so I will be interested to see how I fair in the competition. That being said, I won't be putting any unrealistic pressure on myself and will be looking at consistently improving every time I get into the car. I am going to thoroughly enjoy this experience and racing in a genuinely competitive series on some of the world's best racing circuits." In addition to Randle's Eurocup commitments he will also continue to drive in the remaining rounds of the British Prototype Cup LMP3 Series alongside Mike Newbould in the Douglas Motorsport prepared Ligier JS P3.
