RANDLE READY TO ROCK IN ADELAIDE

Thomas Randle is eager to jump back into his Skye Sands Tickford Racing FG/X Falcon for the opening round of the 2019 Dunlop Super2 Series to be held at the Adelaide Parklands street circuit this coming weekend.

The 22-year-old 2018 Mike Kable ‘Rookie of The Year’ recipient is ready to hit the streets of Adelaide after a three-month break, which saw the young Melbournian test a range of different machinery, while also having a pre-season tune-up of his own.

Randle’s previous Supercars visit to the Adelaide Parklands circuit ended abruptly in the opening race after a power steering failure at the infamous - and high-speed - Turn Eight sweeper, but that won’t be holding Randle back this year.

“It has been a long break, but I am excited to get stuck into it again,” Randle said.

“I’ve had quite a busy off-season aside from doing a heap of physical training. I went over to the United Kingdom to spend a couple of days with world-renowned driving coach Rob Wilson, I had the opportunity to test a Bentley GT3 car and I was lucky enough to complete a handful of laps in the new Tickford Racing Ford Mustang Supercar at Phillip Island recently. I also spent a few days up at the Norwell Motorplex with former Bathurst 1000 winner Paul Morris to further develop my Supercars driving technique.

“I think each of these elements have helped with my preparation for the year ahead and after my one and only pre-season Super2 test day at Winton last week, I’m feeling confident we can put on a strong showing. Last year at Adelaide didn’t go so well leaving the opening round with zero points, however we showed very strong speed thereafter, so I am looking forward to seeing what can be achieved this year with a full season of Super2 experience under my belt.

“It is great to have the continued support of Rusty French with Skye Sands once again my being primary backer for the year ahead and I really hope I can repay the team and my supporters with a great result.”

Dunlop Super2 practice kicks off on Thursday with qualifying and race one being conducted on Friday, followed by races two and three to be held on Saturday and Sunday.
